Move Your Body
Movement builds a connection to the body, lifts the spirits, and activates the mind, body, and soul. Working out is so much more fun when you ENJOY it. We recommend a good balance of activities that exercise your heart, lungs, muscles, and fascia. We have several types of classes:
Strength and Flexibility Workouts Barre, Fascia Fitness, Pop Pilates, Piloxing Follow Along Cardio Dancing 305 Fitness, Xabeat, Cardio Funk, Mixxedfit Dance Classes Ballet, Shuffle, Hip Hop |
STRENGTH TRAINING
At Straightline, strong is beautiful and optimal physical function is the goal. We aim to create bodies equipped for a lifetime of activity. We promote strength, mobility, and endurance.

BarreOur barre class smartly layers big and small range of movement for a classic burn with a dynamic cardio bite. Low-impact and easily adjusted for all levels, Barre is difficult and gentle at once--and requires mental and muscular fortitude--to constantly challenge and consistently reward. You will be amazed at its effects after 10 classes. Barre work increases lean muscle mass, burns calories, decreases body fat, for strength, flexibility, and stamina.
Sweat & StretchThis class combines High Intensity Interval Training (HiiT) with deep stretching to give you the best of both worlds. This workout designed to sculpt every part of your body, as well as increase stamina and improve strength. Think exercises using your own body weight: push-ups, planks, etc. The extended stretch sequence at the end will increase flexibility and reduce soreness.

PILOXING®The upbeat, heart-pumping fusion of pilates, boxing, and dance alternates between choreographed blocks of each. Build power and cardiovascular endurance in boxing, create balance and strength in standing pilates, and shake it all out with fun, simple dance steps. Piloxing is interval training that keeps your brain engaged, your body moving, and calories torching. Optional weighted gloves add challenge.
Pop Pilates®This full-body workout is choreographed to upbeat pop music and feels like a dance on the mat. Class flows between dynamic standing series and bodyweight work to tone the abs, arms, legs, and glutes. Benefits include strength, flexibility, and balance. Instructors demo options to adjust the degree of intensity for all levels. POP Pilates® is energizing, lighthearted, and challenging.

CARDIO DANCE
If you’re looking for exercise that never feels like exercise, try dancing. In each format, a teacher leads choreographed routines, some styles more intricate than others. (Pro tip: If choreo challenges you, just focus on the feet, add arms when you’re comfortable.) Come week to week, and you’ll soon memorize it, gaining a freedom of movement that frees the mind. New routines are added regularly to provide new challenge.

XaBeatUpbeat and uplifting pop music accompanies straightforward routines with a jazz flair. Arms are toned by broad expansive movements, and routines occasionally feature strength exercises like lunges and squats. Choreography is more intricate and quick, but the steps are approachable and repeat a lot to make mastery easy.
Cardio FunkA follow-along style dance fitness class for those with a range of dance experience. The class includes conditioning and toning + follow-along combinations that get the heart pumping. We dance to a variety of music including hip-hop, pop, salsa, and reggaeton

305 FitnessSassy urban choreo struts to a nonstop dance track of dj-mixed music. Dance keeps flowing and breaks for a short toning section in the middle. This 45-minute class is often done in the dark for a clubby vibe.
MixxedfitMixxedfit is an explosive body rolling, booty popping cardio dance class. High energy tracks, dynamic diva movements, and bootcamp style toning routines work your heart and your body with lunges and squats. The songs are pumped up, empowering, and sexy.

Stretching and Flexibility
Mobility and the reduction of muscular tension are integral to physical fitness. We have classes to help you unwind your mind as you lengthen your muscles and connective tissues (fascia). Studies show that there is a connection between fascia adhesions and chronic pain. Consistent movement and mindful extension exercises relieve stress and increase your feel good hormones as well as your range of motion.
|
Deep Stretch YogaAlthough yoga doesn’t have many ties to dance, it shares some important elements. The flowing choreography of a vinyasa class and the concentrated isometric work of an asana hold have much the same affect. It has a mindfulness that clears and centers as well as the ability to breathe and stretch. Yoga pairs well with any exercise routine.
|
Fascia FitnessThis full-body strengthening and lengthening class combines barre strength training with fascial fitness exercises. Fascia is connective throughout the body, including our tendons and ligaments, but is also found around our organs and our muscles, muscle bundles, and muscle fibers. Our understanding of fascia is developing, and it's becoming clear that caring for fascia reduces chronic pain and improves our quality of life. Equipment Needed: A Sturdy Chair, an unobstructed wall, and a tennis ball.

Dance Classes
We aim to take the judgement out of dance by offering recreational dance classes for adults of all levels in a supportive environment. Come with a sense of humor, a positive attitude, and the willingness to cut yourself some slack. A traditional dance class focuses more on technique than cardio dance. Each class begins with a warm-up, breaks down choreography, and drills technique and style. Dance has enormous benefit sharpening the brain’s ability to communicate with the body. The mental exercise in dance-based classes has lifelong benefit, and you’ll never feel like you’re working out!

Hip Hop GroovesThe choreography will incorporate various styles of hip-hop from breaking to popping and everything in between—developing musicality, hard hitting movements, body isolations, energy, textures, and the ability to freestyle. Students will be encouraged to step outside the box and bring their own individual style and personality to the movements. No previous Hip-Hop experience required. Comfortable clothing and clean sneakers required.
Shuffle DancingLearn and practice shuffle dancing. This super popular dance style originated in Australia in the 90s, but now it's everywhere on social media. You've probably seen it and thought, that looks fun. And it is! Come try it out. After warming up, you'll learn some of the most common moves and get a chance to practice. Then you'll put it into a brief routine. Wear clean, dry, rock free athletic shoes (smooth bottom is better) or thick socks.

BalletThis traditional Ballet class takes Barre back to the building blocks to get you moving, perspiring, and delving into the art of Ballet. We will learn how to engage our muscles in basic ballet positions, finding the strength and toning in the exercises. Perfect as a steppingstone to barre or for those who want to feel the grace and musicality of ballet. Suitable for all ages and all levels, graceful or not! Ballet shoes welcome, otherwise socks or bare feet are just fine!
